Example instructional text based on information from Chapters 22 to 29 of the children’s novel The Twits by Roald Dahl.
This exemplar instructional text “How to Trick the Twits” is perfect to use as a WAGOLL when studying The Twits. The instructions are based on the trick that Muggle-Wump the monkey plays on Mr and Mrs Twit at the end of the book.
The model instructions come with a feature identification worksheet for children to fill in, plus answer sheet that can be uploaded for remote learning or shared in class.
After identifying the features, pupils plan and write their own instructions based on the example text using the differentiated templates provided.
