The Wizard of Oz Extract KS3 with Comprehension and Language Analysis and writing task

This is an extract based activity on a popular novel. Students will be able to bring lots of contextual knowledge to discussions about this text. There are lots of activities, including assessing prior knowledge of the text, establishing facts about Kansas and thinking about the effects of a cyclone. This extract gives students a simplified and broken down way of accessing the text. The first part poses comprehension and language activities to ensure the text is carefully read. This lesson can easily be edited for the AQA or Edexcel exam specification. There are also 2 exam style writing questions, using the text as a stimulus.
