Religion and the Tudors Ks3 Year 8

A lesson researching the history of Mary Queen of Scots execution by Elizabeth I where the students looked for other reasons other than religion that played apart in Mary's downfall. I gave them two different resources one of which I thank History on the Net for. Please message for a link.

The lesson also had a literacy strand running through it, with key words glossary, spelling test - taken from my last class marking notes, skim reading, summarizing, a 4 mark GCSE style question (with 2 paragraphs with PEE) and peer marking for SPAG and a PQR (Praise, Question and Response).

History skills included oral note taking, research and recording, and the GCSE 4 mark answer.

I also used a mixture of peppering and Blooms Question stems during class Question Times for ALF as well as response feedback from named students on their findings and understanding.

The lesson was taught on the last day of term, with the students full of Christmas cheer and in Mufty! The lesson needed me to act out the execution and the problems that the axeman had on the day which meant I had the students hanging on to every word and left wanting to know more. It was graded as outstanding with EBI's that only related to what I will term as book keeping, What is more important is the students loved the lesson and so did I!
