Ugly Doll Project - Year 7 - Design Technology/Textiles

This resource contains a 10-14 week project (1 term) focusing on textile skills and design skills. This is based on 1 lesson per week for 1 hour. The ugly doll project contains a PowerPoint with lessons and a PDF which contains worksheets in the same order as lessons. The project format is listed below but teachers will be able to structure the project to suit their class/pupils.

Lesson 1 - Existing Products
Lesson 2 - 3 - Initial Designs
Lesson 3-4 - Final design, rendering and annotations
Lesson 5-7 - Stitching practice and equipment
Lesson 8 - 12 - Manufacturing (templates, patchwork, sewing)
Lesson 13 - Evaluation (peer and self assessment)
Lesson 14 - Material research

This project has been been updated and adapted over the last 2 years and is taught to year 7 but could be adapted to older year groups.

The PowerPoint contains symbols which highlight scaffolding opportunities, questioning and tasks. These symbols can be found at the end of the PowerPoint and can be added to or changed to suit the teaching.

I have included a bonus worksheet at the end of the PDF as an extention or additional knowledge task.
