• This teaching resource explains the work of Dr Yu Chen, an Associate Professor at Binghamton University, State University of New York, USA. He is investigating ways to increase the data security of online audio and video streaming and reduce deepfake attacks.

• This resource also contains an interview with Yu and offers insight into careers in electrical and computer engineering. If your students have questions for Yu, they can send the questions to him online by visiting the Futurum link below, scrolling down to the end and typing in the question(s). Yu will respond!

• The activity sheet provides ‘talking points’ (based on Bloom’s Taxonomy) to prompt students to reflect on Yu’s research and challenges students and learners to get a first-hand experience of creating deepfake videos.

This resource was first published on Futurum Careers, a free online resource and magazine aimed at encouraging 14-19-year-olds worldwide to pursue careers in science, tech, engineering, maths, medicine (STEM) and social sciences, humanities and the arts for people and the economy (SHAPE).
