The PPT is based on the WJEC English Language specification but can be easily adapted to any other A-level specification by changing where AO2 (theories / concepts) is assessed.
The PPT is a full lesson resource: it teaches students which exam section AO2 is used in (starter); then, it gives two model paragraphs where students identify where each AO is hit. The theories used in the model paragraphs are explained in the PPT too to save time for the teacher. Subsequently, students improve their exam responses by adding AO2 to them.
The lesson is a perfect follow up for any exam question assessment that assesses AO2 or as a stand alone lesson that models analytical writing.
The only prep for the teacher is: amend the exam sections that AO2 is assessed in (if doing a different spec); print off the two model paragraphs.
The PPT content will take an hour long lesson. The texts that the model paragraphs refer to are not included in the PPT as the focus of the lesson is to model analytical paragraphs and then apply that knowledge to own responses produced at the time.
