This guided reading activity is about vaccines. Students will read about the historical significance of Edward Jenner’s contributions, understand how vaccines work, learn about the production of antibodies, memory cells, and immune responses. It also briefly addresses the MMR vaccine and autism controversy, and introduces the concept of herd immunity. The activity also includes two research tasks to encourage independent investigation.
