Overview lesson to introduce the Mali Empire and what life was like for the people who lived there. Also introduces KS3 pupils to the importance of studying pre-colonial African history in the context of modern society. This can be done as a one off lesson or as part of a world history study of the middles ages. Works great for a review task after studying Medieval Europe for a comparison study but this previous knowledge is not necessary.
Tasks include treasure hunt/research, debate and judgement tasks. Each slide is accompanied with teacher notes to explain tasks and differentiation. All worksheets supplied.
PowerPoint uses a grey scale to allow for the teacher to adapt to their usual style of presentation.
