This resource has been produced by Enfield Caribbean Association. This unit of work focusses on 6 lessons that span PSHE, Humanities and English.
The learning goal across the whole unit is to introduce students to the Windrush story as well as delve into personal accounts that shed a unique light on the experiences of African and Caribbean people.

The lessons are a series of PowerPoints that can be taught in any sequence and even can be used as one-off lessons. They can also be adapted for both KS3 and KS4.
The materials are unique as they are derived from the book and film Windrush Voices and include video footage of members of the Windrush generation that have never been released.

All of the lessons have accompanying booklets to assist with the lessons.

There are 3 history lessons:
Lesson 1 Origins of the Windrush Story which explores the links of the Caribbean with Britain through the slave trade and the role of abolitionists such as Olaudah Equiano
Lessons 2 and 3 feature two personal histories of the Windrush generation with video footage of the contributors telling their stories. This is fascinating to watch.

There are two English lessons which feature the story of an amazing woman Hyacinth Sandilands. The lessons enable students to develop their skills in analysis, letter writing, empathy and much more.
