Word Sort ay, ai , a-e

"This word sort helps students work out rules to help them decide when to use ai ay or a-e when spelling words. Word Sorts are an excellent way to encourage students to look ‘inside’ words and think ‘why’. In the early stages they can be whole class activities: later group or individual. As a group exercise it works best with mixed ability groups. Encourage students to use correct terminology when discussing ideas.
