In this unit the children will investigate the causes and events of World War Two, with an in depth study of one of the key events; the Battle of Britain.

The children will study the important dates, people and aspects of the battle such as radar, aircraft and propaganda. They will then go on to explore the Battle of the Atlantic as an event with local significance and discuss the events that led to the end of the Second World War.

The children will also investigate cause and effect by exploring what if …questions.

The children will then go on to work in collaborative groups to create their own publications, either newspapers or magazines reflecting the key aspects of the Battle of Britain
