Animal chain poem
Explain to the students that a chain poem is a poem where the last word of a line becomes the first word of the next line. Ask the students to pick an animal and then write such a poem. The key thing is to experiment and discard. The first word of the new line helps determine the forward movement of the thought process. To help give them an idea, show them the example of the ‘Seagulls’ chain verse.
