This powerpoint lesson plan - writing for comic effect - introduces the typical ‘Describe a time when…’ writing task for GCSE/IGCSE students and encourages them to adopt a comic tone in order to demonstrate their ability to shape written responses. It demonstrates some of the central methods required to create humour - exaggeration, irony/saracasm, juxtaposition and deliberate repetition as well as metaphor/simile. It closes with a writing task question.
