Y1 Summer Term – Block 2: Number: Fractions – Find a Quarter (Part 1)

• Recognise, find and name a quarter as 1 of 4 equal parts of an object, shape or quantity.

Maths Focus
Children use their knowledge of halves to recognise that a quarter means four equal parts, demonstrating this with shapes and objects.

Maths Mastery

• Children recognise that a quarter is half of a half.
• Children recognise that four equal quarters makes a whole.
• Children demonstrate multiple ways to represent quarter of a shape.
