My Everyday Science KS2 cards can help you teach NC Y3 Rocks & Soils lessons through children working-scientifically, using household/kitchen resources. They prompt questioning, explorations and investigations and, if printed, don’t rely on Internet access. They can be used for home learning, blended learning, science clubs or lesson ideas.

This download includes:

  • English National Curriculum indexed Teacher pack (including 90+ child-friendly cards covering all KS2 Science topics and easy Ctrl+click navigation)
  • Easy-print version of Teacher pack (with A5 BW cards, NC index and navigation)
  • Zip file containing My Everyday Science Y3 Rocks & Soils PDF cards (child-friendly version)
  • Zip file containing Teacher’s, Parent’s/Carer’s and children’s cards (for home/blended learning) and special cards A-E which focus on WS skills and inspiring children.

The 2013 English National-Curriculum-linked cards in this pack include:

  • Rock Properties: To investigate rocks and stones
  • Fossils: To explore how fossils are made
  • Super Soils: To explore what’s in our soil

Safety Note: I have tried to include only practical work that I consider safe for children to do under the supervision of parents/carers and with prior instructions from a teacher. Every child and home circumstance is different, so I assume no liability for the actions or activities of anyone who uses the information contained in this resource, or for injuries or damage to property caused by using this information. Both teachers and parents/carers should read any cards before the children start carrying out the activities contained in them and teachers should undertake a risk assessment of any practical investigations.

I hope this resource is useful to you, your students and any other teacher friends you want to freely share them with, both in the immediate short-term and as a model for a creative and aspirational teaching approach in the long-term!
