Year 1 resource! Used this lesson in an observation and got great feedback.
This resource goes through the learning objective, recognising and naming the value of different coins. Then children have to order coins from the smallest to largest value.
Next theres an opportunity for children to play shopkeeping. They need to identify the what a shopkeeper is and what a customer is before role playing themselves.
Set up a mini shop in the classroom or having items on a table that are labelled with a price. Children enter the shop and then choose something to buy. For example: If the banana costs £1, then the child has to identify the coin which is worth £1 and so on.
Opportunity for New to English children to identify and name different objects in the classroom.
