Fourteen weeks of Year 3 Autumn morning work, with four focused starter activities per week. Each session covers a single objective with a built-in challenge extension, revisiting Maths and English content pupils have already encountered. Sessions are self-contained and work at the start of the morning, after break or lunch as a way to settle and focus students.
Structured around one clear objective per session, the activities are straightforward to deliver and useful as a quick check on pupils’ understanding of a given concept. Four sessions per week keeps the pack manageable - fitting morning work into every day of the school week isn’t always realistic, and a consistent four gives pupils the routine without the pressure of squeezing it into every morning.
Objectives covered:
- Adding 10 and 100
- Times tables
- Mental addition and subtraction
- Even and odd numbers
- Missing number problems
- Number sequences
- Writing numbers
- Ordering and comparing numbers
- Spelling, including common exception words
- Word classes
- Rhyming words
- Creative writing
