Aimed for year 4 children.
Learning Objective: To find the area of rectilinear shapes by counting squares through problem solving.
Two differentiated worksheets for HA/MA and LA - both worksheets have two exercises. The second exercise is harder where the squares are not given to the children and there are missing measurements (for HA/MA). All measurements are given to LA.
I had taught this lesson and it went really well. First exercise children can stick in their books. Second exercise - children will need to draw out the rectilinear shapes.
An extension worksheet is available for those children who complete the work.
