Year 4: Symmetry (Lesson 2)

This is Lesson 2 of a five lesson Symmetry unit of work for Year 4. Lesson 2 involves the children drawing all of the lines of symmetry on to 2D shapes including complex polygons as well as regular shapes. Extension activity involves the children investigating symmetry in the alphabet.

Objectives covered in unit of work:
Identify lines of symmetry in 2-D shapes presented in different orientations
Complete a simple symmetric figure with respect to a specific line of symmetry
