This resource includes full planning for six Geography lessons for UKS2, based around studying Guatemala linked to The Mayans. It also includes PowerPoint slides for all of the lessons, as well as resources for each lesson. Key vocabulary is listed in the planning from KS1 up to UKS2, as well as national curriculum objectives for Years 5 and 6.

Summary of lessons and resources include:

L1 - Where is Guatemala?. Where do you think it is?
Children to use online maps, atlases, etc to locate Guatemala.
Task - Children answer key questions on the resource provided (pre-assessment task).

L2 - Identify countries and cities around Guatemala .
Task - Use the map of the Americas in the atlases to identify countries around Guatemala. Then use online maps to answer the questions listed on the resource sheet.

**L3 - What human and physical features does Guatemala have? **
Task - Children sort the images provided into physical and human features.

L4 - Introduce Peten Region
Task - Children to create a topographical map of the Penten region of Guatemala.

L5 and 6 - A study of Guatemala
Task - Children to complete further research of Guatemala, to create an information text about it. Provide children with key questions that they need to find out to support with their research. Children to spend the next few lessons completing this or it can be brought into Literacy lessons.
