Year 5 Four Operations - Written and Mental Addition (3 lessons)

Three lessons that focus on written and mental addition in Year 5.

The first lesson:
A lesson for Year 5 that recaps previous learning of written addition from Year 4 before being able to move on to looking at the method vs mental addition in further lessons.

Included is a lesson PowerPoint that includes an arithmetic starter, key vocabulary, discussion points and practices. There is then an activity that includes an answer sheet and challenge questions for anyone that finishes with answers again included.

The second and third lesson:
A double lesson for Year 5 that recaps previous learning of written addition from Year 4 and an introductory lesson as well as focusing on mental methods.

Included is a double lesson PowerPoint that includes an arithmetic starter for each lesson, key vocabulary, discussion points and practices. There is then an activity that includes an answer sheet and challenge questions for anyone that finishes with answers again included.
