Year 6: SPaG Test (with spelling test)

This assessment pack contains questions assessing children’s ability across all areas of Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar and includes a Spelling Test.
It covers curriculum content from the whole of Key Stage Two - so would be ideal for SATs practise.
Each question has been labelled with:
S for Spelling, P for Punctuation and G for Grammar.
This is so children and teachers get a better understanding of which aspect is a strength and/or weakness – hence helping to fine tune revision time.
The question cards can be used in different ways. Here are some suggestions:
• A single question card in Early Morning Time or use as a starter activity can
provide a distance from learning opportunity.
• Three or four question cards as a mini-assessment.
• Half of the question cards as a formal assessment.
The intention of the question cards is to inform Teacher Assessment and to provide a tool for efficient revision time.
A mark-scheme is provided so children could test each other in collaborative revision sessions and make notes for personal reflection.
Teachers should use their professional judgement whether to time children when completing the question cards.
Space has been provided for answers to be recorded on the question card – mimicking the style of the SATs Papers.
