This workbook has been designed to be used with Year 7 pupils starting their KS3 Geography course. It could also be used as a home learning activity for Year 7 pupils (KS3), or as KS2 transition work prior to them starting at secondary school.
This workbook aims to continue to introduce pupils to the subject as well as allowing teachers to assess pupil prior knowledge and confidence using selected geographical skills. Activities have been designed so pupils demonstrate their locational knowledge as well as their ability to think through a geographical investigation, with the opportunity to complete geographical skills such as mean, median, mode and range, as well as completing a stacked bar graph and a radar graph on given data. Therefore, this workbook both provides pupils with insight into how Geography links to their local area, and their teachers a different style of baseline assessment which can be used to later set pupils, or to readdress areas of the geography curriculum as necessary.
The workbook has been designed to follow part 1 of the Year 7 Introduction to Geography Workbook (see my other resources). As in the part 1 workbook, this part 2 workbook is presented as a series of ‘lessons’ including ‘How well do you know the UK?’ (Lesson 4), ‘Geography in our local area’ (Lesson 5), and ‘Collecting and presenting data in Geography’ (Lesson 6).
- Please note that Part 1 of this Year 7 Introduction to Geography workbook is available in my resources and both can be purchased as a bundle for a lower price. *
Within this resource you will get a PDF copy of the workbook and an editable Word Document to adapt to your own needs if necessary.
