I did need to adapte but very useful. Thanks
Lesson where students learn to calculate the midpoint between two coordinates, but then apply this to sides of shapes on coordinate axes and discuss what they notice. Could be extended to more polygons and the more able can try to explain the 'why' behind the patterns they find. This a rich, Arithmagon activity on Midpoints between co-ordinates.
I love Arithmagons as they allow consolidation of key topics when going Forwards, and then opportunities for extension, creativity and discovery when working Backwards. They are also really easy to modify to suit the particular needs of your class.
For all the Arithmagon activities in this series, together with teaching notes and extra information, please visit http://www.mrbartonmaths.com/arithmagon.htm

Building on prior knowledge of finding the midpoint in 2D, this lesson is on finding the coordinates of any point in 3D with more able pupils progressing on to finding the midpoint in 3D. Resources adapted from Psholl, Jmillsdadson, Ben Cooper and NCETM. Includes starter (print double sided),hint sheet), rich activity, 3D grid templates and extension questions. Please Rate

A brilliant Tarsia activity by Gill Hillitt on co-ordinate geometry with two points. These type of activities can be used to consolidate understanding of a given topic, and foster positive group work and co-operative learning. For more ideas on how to use these types of activities (including twists!) and to download the latest version of the wonderful free software to open this resource (and create your own), just click on the web-link. A really nice Tarsia activity where students work together to match up coordinates and midpoints. Should provoke some good discussion and group work.

A very useful starting point, thank you! I'm going to adapt it slightly to include some more points which lie in different quadrants as a challenge for my more confident Year 7s - I find this is when they tend to make more mistakes.
Blank axes included. How to find midpoints - horizontal, vertical and sloping sides.

A lovely set of questions - just what I needed to give year 11s a bit of revision.

PPT looking at how to find the midpoint of a line and then using Pythagoras to calculate the length of a line between two points. Accompanying worksheet attached, as is an abridged version of the worksheet I set for homework.
