Puzzle, plenary or starter. Short activity suitable for KS3 and KS4. A crossword where students find the volume of each cuboid and write the answers in numbers. One number goes in each square, eg 123 would take up 3 squares.

There a a variety of good resources included in this link, the focus is mainly the volume of cuboids but some of the harder work extends to density and triangular prisms. The assessments are nice as they are differentiated into three levels and all have a clear mark scheme which gives you opportunity to do some peer or self marking. The activity sheets have some good ideas for practical applications including some work with cereal boxes. The overhead slides provide clear examples which would be nice to complete on the interactive board. Thank you for sharing.
RAG worksheet for finding the volume of cuboids - any feedback will be hugely welcomed

Two more codebreakers (and associated lame jokes) on volume and surface area. Codebreaker 1 is cubes, cuboids and cyclinders; codebreaker 2 in speheres, cones and pyramids.

Another great pair of codebreakers that my pupils really enjoyed. The first was great for consolidation of basic shapes and the second really stretched them. Many thanks.
