      --
Note that unlike most Treasure Hunts, this one has the added feature that the answers give an encrypted clue. Deciphering this clue reveals where the treasure is hidden!

A Treasure Hunt is a great activity which children love. They are ideal for revision, starters or plenaries. They are a really great way to get students to answer questions quickly and enjoy doing so.

These question cards have been prepared in two sizes. The large cards can be pinned around around the classroom and used for a whole class activity; the smaller (loop cards) can be used for group work or by individuals – they are particularly helpful for one-to-one tutorials and during interventions.

    • Lesson on HCF, LCM that start with listing and then moves onto large numbers needing the prime factor decomposition. A video on how cicadas use prime numbers to achieve a high LCM in nature and a clapping activity to reinforce the idea of what an LCM is.

Useful powerpoint with some interesting activities included. Thanks!

    Practice questions, homeworks and assessments

    • Single lesson on Prime Decomposition, including worksheet with some different types of pattern to spot, such as powers of decomposed square numbers. Also a simplified explanation of how banks use Prime numbers. There is a link in the plenary that shows (at least for my classroom PC!) that computers find it hard to break down even numbers with 8+ digits, never mind 200!) If you like this resource then please check out my other stuff on here!

      Great thank you

    • Calculating the HCF and LCM of 2 (or more) numbers by using Prime Decomposition and Venn Diagrams. Includes some worded questions and follows on from the other Prime Decomposition lesson I have on the TES site. If you like this resource then please check out my other stuff on here!

      Very helpful. Thank you.

    • Clive seems to have got a little confused on prime factors, HCF and LCM. His homework involves five questions, all of which he has got wrong. Can you help explain where he's gone wrong? This activity is designed to create mathematical discussion.

    • Two sets of "explosions" involving prime factors and using them to calculate LCM and HCF. There are some where students are given the two numbers and have to find prime factors, HCF and LCM; there are others where students are given the prime factors and have to find the numbers, HCF and LCM; there are some where students are given the HCF and LCM and need to find the numbers and their prime factors. It it is designed to lead to discussion.
