An excellent presentation with worksheets at the end. Pitched nicely for years 8 and 9 to access relatively easily. Builds up nicely without any need too much prior knowledge. Fabulous job!

“Build an Army” is a fun, strategy game that can be used to consolidate understanding of key mathematical concepts. After students have played the game and described their strategy, there are opportunities for differentiation via various lines of inquiry and probing questions for the students to investigate. Full instructions are provided in the “General Rules” PowerPoint. To find more Build an Army activities, just visit: http://www.mrbartonmaths.com/buildanarmy.htm

A simple idea with some very tough index questions. Nice way to consolidate and will be a good plenary. Thanks.

This is a more difficult index laws codebreaker than the one I already have on here. This one deals with fractional, negative and negative fractional indices. If solved correctly, it should result in another excruciatingly bad (and therefore hilarious!) maths joke.

The answer to the riddle. Did you hear about the plant in the maths room? It had square roots.

Quiz where students choose a level of difficulty and have a varied amount of time to work out the answer, which is timed by the Crystal Maze music. This quiz is on the index laws. 1 point questions are very simple, but the 4 point questions will prove quite challenging!

A nice card matching activity on indices. Thanks for sharing!
This is a Pret homework for fractional and negative indices. In Pret homeworks, pupils practise, recall, extend and think. These homeworks are typically followed in class with spelling or memory tests and discussions about research findings. For an editable version of this homework and Pret homeworks for many more topics, see http://prethomework.weebly.com/.
