I am a teacher of design technology and now feel it's time to give back a little to help all teachers out there. Most resources are based around resistant materials but having taught all areas within technology some resources can be easily transferred to all areas and even other subject.

A step by step booklet that includes the whole process of making a rectangle box. The resource includes images and text to show pupils the correct way to produce the product. The resource was designed to help differentiate during practical lessons after a demonstration allowing those who were capable to move forward at their own pace. The images are there for a visual reminder to pupils on techniques or tools used at each step for those who struggle to retain knowledge after demonstrations.

D&T Passport

A passport that I have found particularly useful when starting practical lessons within D&T. This one is specifically based around resistant materials but it could easily be adapted to suit other areas. The idea behind it is for every pupil to be given one at the start of the module or year and when pupils have been shown fully how to use the tool or equipment by yourself in a demonstration they then fill out the risk assessment that is printed on the reverse. It is then signed and dated to prove that each pupil has had sufficient training on the equipment or tools.

A poster which displays higher order thinking questions for Design Technology. A great resource that could be displayed on a wall, used as a resource for pupils to use during class discussions, or even as a way of helping pupils to annotate their design ideas. The poster uses a 1-6 ladder which helps to prompt questions at low order thinking skills (knowledge), up to high order thinking skills (synthesis).
