This is a 30 page creative expression book which is great for children to express what they want, need and give them a safe place to express themselves with freedom or safety. Each page contains a question/idea for a drawing allowing the child to explore feelings, emotions and dreams. The book can support the child to express themselves in a safe way instead of relying on talking which can be a lot more difficult and confronting, especially for children who have had difficult childhood experiences.
This book is about giving a voice and giving the child a choice as to what creative medium they would like – finger paint, draw, sketch, colour, write, anyway they want to express themselves.

This cathartic intervention has been designed to support teenagers and adults to create their own “Therapeutic Doll” or “Healing Doll” which helps provide insight and a connection to their core sense of self. Individuals are then asked to reflect on the process by examining the questions provided.
Therapeutic doll making is a sensorimotor therapeutic approach which helps support individuals who have experienced trauma such as sexual abuse, physical assault, domestic violence as well as explore interpersonal relationships.
This resource includes a list of questions for the individual to reflect on post activity as well as a diary entry page for them to record their thoughts.
MATERIALS NEEDED
Each student will require one blank calico doll. These can be purchased at craft stores. Additionally, there should be a wide range of craft materials to ensure that the students have a range of options to use when creating their therapeutic doll.
Individuals may also even want to bring in some personal items that they want to use to decorate their doll. Should you not be able to obtain blank calico dolls then a one page body outline is included in this resource so that students can decorate these instead. This is not ideal and not the intended purpose of this intervention and should be used as a last resort only.

The following includes over 45 CBT Statements that can be utilized within or out of a session. These are great to counteract negative thoughts by helping an individual to identify unhelpful thoughts, patterns and behaviour and alter them to more effectively work towards their goals. The aim is to change thought patterns, both conscious and unconscious beliefs, attitudes and ultimately behaviour to help face difficulties and achieve goals.
This resource has been used in many ways. One way is by printing out each of the CBT statements and putting them in a jar. The student or client can take out a random statement when they feel that they need to refocus. There is a blank page of blank cards for the student or client to write down their own idiosyncratic statements. These can be written together in therapy or as homework. Laminate each of the thoughts and you can utilize this resource for years to come. This is a great activity that is versatile so can be used in many ways!
NOTE: Modern CBT is moving away from the use of “negative thoughts” lingo and instead framing thoughts as either helpful or unhelpful for the individual. Please keep this in mind when implementing this resource.

What is Stress and Anxiety?
Types of Normal Stress and High Stress Situations
Individual Triggers
Physical Symptoms of Anxiety
Reflective Activities and Worksheets
What is a Worry Monster?
Everything you need to build your own “Worry Monster”
This intervention helps students personify and project their worries onto their own monster that they create with the therapeutic aim to reflect and gain insight. Although this isn’t a directive/skills-based intervention, this mini-lesson has been successful at supporting students who experience stress and anxiety.
This intervention helps to create a sense of personal awareness and insight into their own states of stress and anxiety. The Worry Monster can also act as an outlet so that the Worry Monster can hold onto the stress and anxiety, helping to compartmentalize the stress and anxiety so that the student doesn’t have to.
This therapeutic intervention requires the therapist to be very curious and unconditionally accepting of the Worry Monster that the student creates and imagines.
Remember the vital role of empathy and at the end of the intervention thank the student for sharing what they would look like as a monster to support integration.

This intervention helps students reflect, project their internal beliefs and feelings associated with the death of their loved one. This activity can help them to express their deepest feelings and fears about death and gain a sense of acceptance and closure.
This activity includes a fictional character who has lost loved ones. The activity looks at how this fictional character feels about missing them. An example letter from this character to her loved ones as well as a letter from their loved ones to this fictional character is included.
The students are then encouraged to write their own letter (on provided templates) to their loved ones and write a reply letter back. A one page of “sentence starters” is provided to help students should they require some ideas as to what they can write.

The great thing about these cards is that they are versatile! You are literally only limited by your imagination. There are 56 cards in total and they support students to cultivate positive self talk, social emotional development as well as a growth and positive mindset.
This resource includes numerous ways to utilize these cards. For example, print each of them out and put the in a jar. At the start of each day get each student to pick one from the jar randomly! They can place that on their desk for the day! You can use these cards on an individual, pair, group or whole class approach. For example as a group, you could choose one and ask the group members one of the following questions… When would have been a time that this affirmation would have been important for you to hear? Why? Who could use this affirmation today? Why? If you could give this affirmation to anyone who would you give it to? Why?
These have been a great asset to my toolkit and the students response has been overwhelmingly positive! We hope you enjoy using them as much as we do!
