This lesson builds on student’s understanding of the Mosaic Covenant and the revelation of the Torah on Mt Sinai (including the theme of Shekinah). The lesson looks at the 10 duties which make up the decalogue and why each of these duties is important.Next students explore the Mitzvah as a whole (613) and divergent understandings of these laws. The teaching “Do not kill” is discussed alongside modern moral issues such as euthanasia, war and abortion. This helps to introduce later topics in the scheme of work such as the Talmud and Pikuach Nefesh. Students consolidate and apply their learning with a C 8 mark question.

A3 revision task sheet and revision answer sheet for Catholic Origins and Meanings Eduqas. This sheet covers each of the topics on the exam Specs such as Genesis 1, Genesis 2, different interpretations of Genesis (including Jewish), Scientific beliefs about the universe, the Sanctity of Life, Imago Dei, Saint Catherine of Siena, Abortion and Humanism etc. The sheets cover the spec exactly. The answer sheet can be given to take home to ensure students revise correct information.
Instructions
Students should complete the sheet from memory.
Then read, cover, check, improve.
If they use two different coloured pens the student can identify the information they know and the information they need to revise further.
I have also included a double sided A3 revision clock - Students can use in a variety of ways. If they are confident they can fill the section in, and review using info sheet. If they are not confident they can spent 2 mins revising, 2 mins filling in, 1 min checking. Each section represents 5 mins of revision and might be used over the holidays (eg 5 mins a day).
These are complete info & task booklets to be used for the Judaism: Practices, EDUQAS GCSE unit. We have also delivered the unit on the Edexcel Specification and this booklet would also be appropriate to use for Edexcel with some small changes.
Please note the full spec is covered - the booklet is 23 pages long. Only a selection is shown in the TES preview.
We are confident that you will find this booklet useful - It could be used for revision, remote learning, homework or even cover work! It is used best when used alongside our task booklet!
The booklet is ideal for black and white photocopying and we recommend turning it into A4 or even A5 booklets.

This lesson explores the Tenakh. The Spec outlines that the Tenakh and Talmlud should be taught and applied to daily life in the ‘Practices’ unit. However, we planned this lesson to open the ‘Beliefs and Teachings’ unit and we can then explore how it is used in daily life throughout both units. We feel it is important that students understand the difference between the Christian Bible and the Tenakh before looking at Abraham and Moses!
The lesson focuses on the Torah and how it is used and cared for - but we also look at the role of the other books and then evaluate their importance.

Abraham’s Covenant for the Eduqas Judaism Beliefs unit. The lesson focuses specifically on 6 key concepts. God promises Abraham the Promised Land, Blessings and Ancestors (including his son). God asks Abraham to spread monotheism, go to the Promised Land and circumcise the men in his household.
Please note the lesson does not look at the sacrifice of Isaac - this is because exam board feedback last year states mark are not awarded for this as it is not an essential part of the covenant.
