This is a really fun craft to use with the new Dr. Seuss book, What Pet Should I Get?
What is included:
- 4 pets (cat, dog, turtle ... and my favorite ... the bird)
- a simple writing activity has been prepared which can be placed on the back of each pet (grade 1 or 2 or 3) JK and K can just make the paper bag puppets and not do the writing activities.
Have created these so that either the eyes, a bone, a chin or a beak will hang over the base of the bag.
What you need:
- paper, scissors, glue
- brown paper bags (I bought mine at a dollar store. They come 40 in a bag.)
Size listed on bag: 5 1/8 x 3 1/8 x 10 5/8 inches or
13 x 7.9 x 27 cm
If your bag is a different size then just adjust your photocopying.

Contains 24 Mini Foldable books!
- 3 different books for each of 8 pets
- pets are: dog, cat, fish, bird, hamster, rabbit, turtle and snake
- the 3 books for each pet are set up as follows: easy reading (emphasizing is, has and can), a rhyming book and a more challenging book with factual information about the pet
Each mini foldable book consists of just one sheet of paper. These books are easy for students to put together - just fold in half twice and trim the edges, if they desire! Each book has a title page, 2 reading pages and the last page is a spot for students to draw a picture. Use the books in literacy centres, read-alongs, or send them home for additional practice.

POP-UP Veterans Day Craft / Memorial Day Craft with Writing Activity
This is a great craft for students to complete for Veterans Day (and I included templates for Memorial Day!) So, two activities in one!
This craft has two main components:
- A base (made out of one piece of paper, 8 1/2 x 14) I have provided two base templates - Memorial Day and Veterans Day
- POP-UPs - 9 options to choose from, including male and female representation, graphics for Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force. On the back of each POP-UP is a simple writing activity.
