This set of lesson plans, resources, and activities is for use with Baloney, Henry P., Doctor De Soto, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, and Owl Moon.
These resources can be used for whole group, small group, and independent instruction – which makes these them a smart choice for literacy centers or Reader’s Workshop. Each lesson plan follows the format of a mini lesson and provides an opportunity for students to turn and talk about how they understand text structure while reading. Students will also have the opportunity to practice the strategy with a page by page guided “worksheet” and write about their reading with a common core aligned Reader’s notebook prompt.
