My key responsibility is KS3 curriculum and resources; planning and delivery. I am have years of experience designing and authoring KS3 SOW. I have purpose created a range of standalone lesson suitable for home learning, remote learning and virtual classrooms. They can also be used for cover (printed) and in the classroom (remove cream boxes). I am a Deputy Director of English at a Harris Academy. I have years of experience authoring schemes of work and lessons that are designed to be fun and engaging whilst reflecting the curriculum’s goal: teaching language through literature. These new lessons can be purchased individually or in a bundle of twelve. Each lesson should be take around sixty minutes or longer - depending on ability. The bundle provides at least twelve to twenty four hours of teaching material, depending on ability. Each lesson centers around one standalone extract and targets a range of English skills such as active reading, comprehension, inference, analysis (language and structure) creative writing and writing for multiple audiences and purposes (transactional writing). If you purchase the bundle, you’ll get all of these skills. Individual lessons target different skills. Each lesson is a full lesson with a starter task, a range of scaffolded activities that lead to a structured main task. The lesson are designed to teach from the top down - high ability - but also consider SEND. Each lesson offers support such as vocabulary and technique break downs, suggested sentence starters and visual prompts. Features of lessons: Standalone lessons using individual extracts (listed further down) Consistently clear structure to lessons with a Do Now, active reading tasks, tasks that lead and scaffold towards a structures ALT (applied learning time - main task) Stretch and challenge opportunities Support in the form of vocab breakdown downs, definitions, modeling and examples, suggested sentence starters, visual aids and prompts SEND friendly - cream and light blue background, dual coding (can be changed to standard black and white), 1.5 spacing and comic sans font Range of tasks that develop a range of English skills including comprehension and inference, language and structure analysis, creative writing and transactional writing Extracts have been colour coded to highlight sentence structures - acts as a clear visual guide for how writers use multiple sentence structures for purpose and effect.
