The presentation gives a series of ideas to explore the context of the poems. The poems are included on the presentation in unannotated form and also with annotations. Students are shown in stages how to construct a comparison based on the idea of the experiences of people in both poems. A marking grid is included for students to peer mark and construct a DIRT response. Finally - a sample essay is included to A* standard.

A grid designed for flexibility - for the students to complete and add as they wish with any relevant historical events, poetic and literary movements and the dates of famous writers. In addition- the poets from the Anthology are placed on the timeline so that students can more clearly understand the contextual background to the poems. Students found this very helpful.
