KS4 French Relationships - revision
Vocab revision and past exam question to try
Types of house and area - cover lesson
Had to leave work for my year 7 class starting House and Home topic. This worksheet introduces them to key vocab to talk about types of houses and areas they might live in. 'Ave it!!! :)
Plenary game - find out what they've learned!
2 teams - boys v. girls. Teacher asks question to 1st team. If correct, team chooses a number from grid. Teacher clicks on number and points scored as follows:
NUMBER = team awarded that number of points
2 ARROWS = teams must swap their scores (watch their faces!! Priceless!!!)
MONKEY = team loses all their points.
All credit to my wonderful colleague Helen Patterson who created then shared this resource. ENJOY!!! :)
Descriptions of films
Speaks for itself - respect to colleagues who I robbed some of this from!! :)
Describing your town
Keep pressing 'N' key on keyboard - ask a pupil to say 'Arrete' - stop pressing 'N'. Pupil must tell you what the phrase means.
VALENTINE'S DAY Higher level Listening
First screen - click on the deaf fella icon and soundfile should play. If not, I've included the MP3 (thanks to Mary Glasgow!). Click on the white boxes and correct answers will be revealed. transcript on screen 2.
Battleships game
Teacher places battleships behind random squares prior to lesson. Pupil says a sentence (action + time) to create a co-ordinate. (Can then ask them to translate what they've said).Teacher or pupil moves appropriate square to reveal a battleship :) or not! :(
Sweet / point for those finding ships!!
Wipeout game
Pupils come to board to click on an item of FOOD. If they click on an item which is not food, they get a 'WIPEOUT'. 3 x wipeouts = game over!!! :(
Colouring activity reinforcing spelling of rooms
Pupils select the boxes which go together to make a room, and colour them in the same colour. And so on!!
TV programmes cut out and match up activity
Instead of teaching pupils tv programmes - repeat after me etc zzzzzzzzzzz, let them teach themselves!! Pupils are given a sheet of A3 paper, a copy of the vocab list, a copy of the pictures and a dictionary. They match up the words to the pictures, cut them out and stick them onto the A3. As an extension, they could write their opinion of each type of programme next to them. 'Ave it!! :)
Technology text analysis - pair work.
Cut up the 5 cards & place however you like in the room. (I have 5 tables, 6 pupils on each - I put 3 copies of the same card on each table). Pupils work in pairs and are given 5 minutes on each table to see how many of the questions they can answer by reading the text. After 5 mins they move on to the next table. Or you can stick copies of the texts on the walls / tables / back of chairs etc and let them find the 5 different texts. Have fun!
PRESENT, PAST + FUTURE tense recognition
You'll have to invest in some sets of mini-jenga (I found them for a couple of quid each on Amazon). Put a number (1-48) on each block. Pupils play Jenga in groups - one pupil is &'in charge&'; and has the question / answer sheet. If pupil successfully pushes out a block, questionmaster asks them the relevant question and gives them a point if they can a) recognise the tense b) say what it means in English. If question is in English, they must say the verb in French for 2 points. Have fun! 'Ave it!!!
Healthy lifestyle GROUP / PAIR WORK
Instructions as to how you could use this on page 3 of document. Hope it's of some use - &'AVE IT!!!!! :)
ROOMS - GROUP WORK
Instructions sheet included - just have a look and 'ave it if it&'s any good! Not actually used it yet so any feedback appreciated, equally if you find mistakes let me know! Thought I might use it with middle ability year 11s as revision prior to reading + listening exams!
JOBS - Higher level reading group activity
Based on a question from AQA Higher level reading exam June 2014. Pupils work in groups scanning and analysing 5 texts for key vocabulary.
