This Classroom Secrets resource learning activity enables children to develop their understanding of estimating. Practitioners should discuss how to make ‘sensible estimates’ by using their knowledge of quantities. If required, supporting adults may need to write the numerals for the children or small number cards could be used. Children then identify how many objects there are by counting. Please be aware that if children are able to subitise the amount to 5 this should be encouraged.
