A Level RS: Religion and Ethics: Analysis Revision Maps

(0)
These analysis mind maps sumarise each topic by page for the whole unit of Religion and Ethics (AS and A2 years). Each map is downloaded as both a Word document and a PDF, for compatibility. The maps specifically follow the requirements of the OCR A Level Religious Studies Spec, but due to similarities across specifications they are relevant for other exam boards. They can also be edited easily for other specifications. They explore appropriate AO1 (knowledge and understanding) followed by AO2 (analysis and evaluation) of that specific point. I encourage my own students to add another layer to the map, evaluating the analysis, to develop their AO2. This could continue on indefinitely or end each ‘arm’ with a personal judgement. I also like to cut up the maps and ask the student to re-construct them. This aids in their revision skills and supports their logical structuring of arguments. Maps included: Natural Law Situation Ethics Kantian Ethics Utilitarianism Euthanasia Business Ethics Meta-Ethics Conscience Sexial Ethics Please give feedback! I am always happy to respond to comments - whether positive or constructive - this will help to improve the quality of my resources in the future and, more importantly, the quality of pupils’ RE/RS education in general - which is what we’re all here for!

Eduqas GCSE Religious Studies Game: Philosophy and Ethics Revision!

Want to test and stretch your pupils in a fun and competitive way?! 'So you think you know' is a fun and exciting game designed for the classroom! The game revises all aspects of: 1. Issues of Relationships 2. Issues of Good and Evil 3. Issues of Life and Death 4. Issues of Human Rights All you need to play this game are the resources attached. However, you could UP the challenge by using a 4-sided dice! In total, the resource includes 195 differentiated questions - of varying challenge, for pupils to choose independently or team up to answer. (I also use the question cards for intervention/extra revision sessions) with the pupils. Questions and topic (stated via a logo, e.g. heart for Issues of Relationships unit) are on one side and suggested answer(s) are on the reverse - though I appreciate that in RS there is never usually only one correct answer! The rules of the game are below, but they are also on the accompanying PPT. Before we start, you’ll need to know the rules! So here they are: The player with the nearest birthday comes first Their team chooses a container from which to draw the question or (for advanced teams) plays roll the 4-sided die and draw the corresponding question! The team has 20 seconds to answer the question correctly to win the points If, after 20 seconds, the team has not answered correctly, the question goes to ALL PLAY and anyone can win the points! The team with the most points at the end of the game, wins! However: Each team has a ‘PASS’ card, which they can use on any question. This passes the question to another team of their choice who MUST get it right, otherwise they lose 20 points! If they get it right they do not lose any (or gain any!) points! You can use a PASS card to ‘pass’ again to the original team or another team! Each team has a ‘CLUE’ card, which they can use on any question. This allows the team 1 clue to help them get the correct answer. Blank question cards are also included for you to add your own / differentiate specifically for your pupils. Happy teaching!

Islamophobia Unit - Whole Unit for KS3 KS4 Religious Education and Citizenship

(0)
Whole unit for ‘Islamophobia’ - more important in today’s world than ever. Unit of work also provided. Lesson sequence: 1 Introduction to Islamophobia 2 Islamophobia 3 Jihad and Quran 4 Islamic Heroes 5 Islam in Britain 6 Assessment In this unit pupils explore issues of Islamophobia in the world. Pupils will develop their understanding of where Islamophobia comes from and how Islamophobia impacts on society today. The unit has an equally weighted AO1 and AO2 emphasis – learning about religion and learning from religion in order to develop a pupil’s knowledge and understanding of Islam whilst aiding a pupil’s spiritual, moral, social and cultural growth. Pupils will study and examine the concept of Islamophobia and explain the existence of it in our society today. They will also reflect on what this means from a humanitarian perspective and in contrast to other forms of prejudice that they already know. Pupils will consider what Islamophobia feels like from a Muslim perspective, whilst tackling the common misconceptions and prejudices usually associated with Islam. This unit may link with work in PSHE and Citizenship. This unit can be taught through a half term, with extension activities and support for additional needs running throughout the scheme of work. The unit is expected to take approximately 7 hours.
