18 Space themed home learning tasks for Nursery or Reception (Early Years)
There are a total of 18 activities that can easily be done at home split over two sheets. Activities are practical using items children will have at home. There are key questions to guide parents delivering the activities at home. The activities are topic based. They cover all areas of the EYFS curriculum. There are art projects, research ideas, movement, imaginative etc. There aren’t really stand alone phonics or maths activities but these subjects are touched upon in other activities too e.g. where writing, stories or shapes are involved. There are several activities which cover ‘Understanding the world’ (science).
Originally made for Covid school/ bubble closures and where children were asked to complete 3 tasks a week, however, it could be easily used as a half termly or termly home learning sheet where children complete one task a week or similar.

It includes various activities for children to do at home or in nursery prior to moving into a school nursery or reception class.
Activities all encourage children to think about their new school and discuss it with a grown up. Some give space for children to draw their ideas or colour in, alongside key questions for adults to ask them as they complete the activity.
There are some pages for guided discussion such as around what they may do in their new setting, and discussion of the child’s feelings.
There are 5 pages of tips for parents on how they can support their children to have a good transition experience too and how to prepare their children for school.
This would work as a document to send home for families to complete, or to do some in nursery and send the tips home to parents.
10 writing prompts- these are pictures, which can be coloured in, with lines for a sentence to be written underneath describing the picture. These are suitable for children working at Phase 3 - 5 phonics.
1 sheet for reading opportunities aimed at Phase 3 readers. Children read the sentence and cut out the corresponding picture and stick it next to the sentence.
