This is a fully differentiated lessons looking at the character of Sherlock Holmes in the story The Speckled Band. The lesson introduces learners to the key concept of making inferences and how this can be applied to studying English. The lesson has many opportunities for AFL and helps to develop skills when responding to language questions. The PowerPoint includes a student example that works well to help learners to make a response to an exam-style question. This 19-slide lesson looks at key questions (Q3,4,5) of the paper two exam, Writer’s Viewpoints and Perspectives. The lesson looks at the theme of gender equality and helps guide learners through some of the tricky elements of the exam.
