The booklet has been put together to help students gain an in-depth understanding of both language and structure and how to approach each exam question. This lesson looks at helping students to vocalize their views in terms of the impact adults play on their lives as they grow up. It will help them to build up skills in terms of expressing their opinions in a clear and logical manner. This lessons helps students to read critically and to develop the skills they will need in order to progress within the subject of English.

The lesson provides students with an introduction to the writer Allen Edger Poe and one of his most important pieces of writing, A Tell-Tale-Heart. The lesson begins with a fact-finding task, then progress to looking at the text and the Gothic conventions that are presented. There are tasks for the class to identify quotations linked to key images. The class will then move on to attempt an exam-style question, there is also a written example to help them to construct a well-written response.
