Each letter also links with an action, shown in our gesture videos. By pairing letters with pictures and actions the pairing between letter formation and sound is no longer arbitrary. Individual sets of cards can be used to ‘fade out’ from pictures to letters, tracking individual progress step by step. This allows children to recognise smaller increments of success and use shape, movement, sound and colour cues to support their learning.
