An assembly all about the impact that random acts of kindness can have. It explores why we need to be kind to each other, the effect small acts can have on our family, friends and the wider communities and in turn our own emotional wellbeing. The assembly lasts around 20 minutes, including a short clip. As part of the assembly you will need to place three Post-Its randomly where the children will sit. You will be calling those three students who sit on a Post-It up to give them a small gift (perhaps a tube of Smarties).You will then ask them questions about how they feel - this is to show the impact of an act of kindness when people aren’t expecting it (which scientists have shown to have more impact than if they are). The assembly is very easy to follow (and has additional teacher notes in the slide-notes of the PowerPoint). It is also editable. Two hours of lessons exploring the fantasy vs reality of porn. The pack investigates the impact on the brain and the dopamine system (causing addiction) and on wider society, as well as the real, unglamorous lives of porn stars. The pack also investigates how people are using porn (images of their partners/ex-partners) as blackmail material or ‘revenge porn’ and students learn how they can prevent this ever happening to them, as well as the legality surrounding this. Students will take part in designing a range of clothing for an Islamic fashion show, that needs to please both a religiously conservative and liberal audience. NEW 2024 lesson all about deepfakes and malicious AI use. Students will explore what we mean by deepfakes and malicious AI, before discovering how celebrities, politicians and citizens are falling victim of this new technology. They will investigate the new UK law (April 2024) and the penalties aimed at different types of deepfakes, including explicit ones (no imagery will be seen, just the concept discussed). Deepfakes are a new focus suggested in the current draft 2024 RSHE guidelines, and whether these pass or not, the problems caused by deepfakes are certainly something students should learn about. A fully-resourced lesson which serves as an introduction to ‘honour’ based violence and ‘honour’ killings. Students will explore whether it is true that most honour killings are down to interpretation of religious texts, or whether culture or misogyny is mostly responsible. They will learn about where victims can go for help and the form ‘honour’ based violence can take. This lesson is great to consolidate the PSHE 2020-24 spiral curriculum (especially for a forced marriage unit) or for a Citizenship / RE human rights unit. The lesson is most suitable or KS4 / KS5 (but there is nothing unsuitable for KS3) and is editable, so easy to adapt for your own planning.
