PSHE Assessment

USE FOR ANY TOPIC! Booklets of mark-schemes, mastery assessment ideas and other grading templates for assessing progress in PSHE. These assessment booklets were created for KS3 (but can be used with KS4) and are adaptable. They have been created using PSHE Association guidelines to be used with the EC Resources Complete KS3 Pack (although they can be easily amended to fit any school’s scheme). The download includes two items in the ZIP file and one Excel file. Example of the template used by a teacher for a Healthy Lives topic. An easy to follow, editable, blank template. Student data tracker and flight path generator (with instructions) Note - I know there is a lot of assessment material here. You can pick and choose what you use and what you leave out, I don’t think any school would expect you to use all of it for every PSHE assessment. There are many ways of assessing in PSHE. This booklet allows you to focus on mastery levels or literacy or skills (based on both Bloom’s Taxonomy and the requirements for extensive writing subjects in GCSE with the 9-1 grades). The booklet offers students a variety of long and short tasks to complete, with the options of either peer or teacher assessment. It includes all guidance on how to mark with two easy mark-schemes. The tasks make it very easy for teachers to evidence progress and are simple enough for students to read through and complete themselves, without much guidance. These assessment sheet have been created with the EC Resources PSHE Packs in mind (as the progress measured reflects the kind of tasks and activities in them) but they can be used with any PSHE unit really. These resources have been designed to be engaging, detailed and easy to follow. All the resources are editable, so easy to adapt further for your classes if you want to. Body Parts - KS1

The human body - naming body parts including the correct names for the external genitalia KS1 PSHE lesson. A one-hour long, very detailed, fully resourced PSHE lesson suitable for KS1. This lesson has been created for Year 2, however, the activities could easily be adapted to suit students in Year 1. In this lesson, the students will learn about the human body and the importance of using the correct words when talking about our body parts. The students will discuss a variety of body parts and reflect on the importance of avoiding silly or made-up names when referring to genitalia. We will discuss the concept of privacy with regard to our private parts, and define safe-touch boundaries by means of the ‘swimwear’ unsafe-touch rule (i.e. nobody is allowed to touch the parts of your body that are covered by swimming trunks or a bathing suit). The lesson includes a case study starter, a video clip with questions, a cut-and-paste body labelling activity that includes the key terms for penis, testicles and vulva, and a plenary task. Created to fit the new DfE and PSHE Association statutory 2020 /21 guidelines, the lesson includes a detailed PowerPoint, all editable with accompanying tasks and worksheets. The lesson has been left editable and is filled with engaging, well differentiated and fun activities. It is designed to be ‘no prep’, so you can just pick it up and use it, although it is still adaptable should you wish to.

Equality, Disability + Law (MACS Charity Lesson)

A KS4 PSHCE lesson which serves as both an introduction to the concept of disability discrimination in UK law and in depth examination of the 2010 Equality Act. These resources also serve to highlight how MACS charity (Microphthalmia, Anophthalmia and Coloboma Support) helps children with visual impairments and prepares them for life as independent and disabled UK citizens. The lesson lasts around 2 hours and includes differentiated activities, case study investigations, literacy focus and debate tasks, clip tasks and group activities as well as guidance to show how the lesson meets sections of the new PSHE draft curriculum from the DfE for 2020 and the statutory Citizenship curriculum for KS4. The lesson is in the Zip File - the images have been uploaded so you can clearly see what the lesson includes. Momo Challenge - Dangerous Hoax Reading Comprehension

(3)
A detailed reading comprehension all about the recent ‘Momo Challenge’ (no pictures of Momo included) and the dangers of online challenges that this hoax has highlighted. This reading comprehension includes three sets of differentiated challenge questions, so with reading, discussion and answering the questions this will keep a group busy for 25-30 mins. It is perfect for Form Time or an activity in any English or PSHE lesson. The article, written by journalist R E Hunt (who has kindly let us share her work) investigates the irony behind the Momo Challenge - where the fear and harm from the sight of Momo were actually spread by the news media trying to warn parents about it. The article contains a serious message - Momo was a hoax - but a hoax based upon reality. It reiterates how young people can stay safe and use their critical thinking skills not to fall victim to future Momos.
