A fully-resourced, KS3 Citizenship lesson which investigates the UK’s foreign aid budget, how and why it’s spent and how the aid supplied helps developing countries.

Students will explore the UK’s hate speech laws in comparison to other countries and examine contemporary news events where free speech has been used as an excuse for hate speech, such as the YouTuber, ‘PewDiePie’ and his antisemitic ‘pranks’.
This lesson is great for PSHE (investigating bigoted language) or for Citizenship, to examine UK laws in an interesting way, or as part of a Human Rights unit. A fully-resourced lesson which serves as an introduction to ‘honour’ based violence and ‘honour’ killings. Students will explore whether it is true that most honour killings are down to interpretation of religious texts, or whether culture or misogyny is mostly responsible. They will learn about where victims can go for help and the form ‘honour’ based violence can take.
This lesson is great to consolidate the PSHE 2020-24 spiral curriculum (especially for a forced marriage unit) or for a Citizenship / RE human rights unit. The lesson is most suitable or KS4 / KS5 (but there is nothing unsuitable for KS3) and is editable, so easy to adapt for your own planning. If everything is completed, there is around 90 minutes of material here.

A fully-resourced lesson which serves as an introduction to social justice. Students will explore the concept of social justice, its link to human rights and why it’s needed, before examining recent campaigns and the progress being made by the social justice movement. They will also explore objections to what some call ‘social justice warriors’ and whether social justice is backed up by religious ideas, by analysing quotes - the lesson has been created for RE, but would be useful as a Citizenship / interesting Drop Down Day session too.
A number of religions and religious quotes will be examined throughout the lesson, with the most detailed focus on Christianity, Islam and Judaism. Suitable for KS3 / KS4 and editable, so easy to adapt.

A Crime and Law Drop Down Day Pack - A set of 6 lessons to cover a Citizenship / PSHE Drop Down Day (6 hours) which could be use with either KS3 or KS4 as an off time-table day for the end of term.
All the resources are editable and well-differentiated so it could be used with any year group KS4 / KS3, with the option to tweak if you want to.

What is hate crime? How does UK law deal with it and why is it important we study it?

A Diversity Drop Down Day Pack - A set of 6 lessons to cover a Citizenship / PSHE Drop Down Day (6 hours) which could be use with either KS3 or KS4 as an off time-table day for the end of term.

5 hours of lessons which all have a focus on controlling / coercive relationships and abuse, created for the new DfE PSHE guidelines and PSHE Association guidance for 2020. These lessons have been put together for a Drop Down Day as they all follow the theme of abusive relationships, but could easily be used as a short PSHE unit instead, or even in Tutor Time.
