Updated! An introduction lesson for AQA Citizenship GCSE 9-1. The lesson goes through all the different modules, how they are assessed, what each section is worth in terms of marks in the exam and introduces many of the new key terms and concepts students will be covering over the course.

A fun and creative Citizenship / Tutor Time project lesson for students in the last week of term. Could be used for activities week in Humanities or just as a reward lesson the last time you see your class for the summer.
Very easy to set up - you will just need a few balloons, string, sellotape, old clothes, felt tips and a any other boxes/construction materials you can find (just things that would usually be thrown in the recycling). The students work in small groups to research and recreate a famous political icon (info sheets and clip tasks included - all instructions on Powerpoint). The lesson can last as long as you want it to, and I gave prizes of sweets at the end for the best one - but that’s optional! My students really enjoyed it and we took pictures at the end for the school website.
Hopefully yours will love it too.
I’m going to be adding lots more free PSHCE lessons over the coming months. Follow me to see when they’re uploaded! :)

The documentary is about an Orthodox Jewish man who attempts to reintegrate in a strict community after becoming involved with criminals and spending time in prison. It’s great for seeing day to day life in an Orthodox Jewish community in Britain, but isn’t essential to the module so don’t worry if you don’t have time.

New 2024 lesson covering virginity testing, hymenoplasty and the UK law. This is new content added into the draft RSE guidance currently being created by the DfE. Whether or not this subject is included in the final guidance when it’s released, we still feel that it’s an exceptionally important subject to cover. In this lesson students will discover what these terms mean, how cultural norms and traditions can dictate what we would usually perceive to be abuse upon the body of young women, why this needs to stop, where we can go for help and how the law has recently changed to make such practices illegal. Best suited to KS4 and editable.
Students will complete analysis tasks, literacy tasks, creative tasks, clip tasks and much more.
This lesson is taken from the new EC Publishing Complete 2024 PSHE Package which can be found at the EC Publishing website. Everything is editable and easy to pick up and run with and includes future DfE updates too.
This has been written to cover the 2020-24 PSHE guidance from the DfE and PSHE Association for RSE.
