Most resources I develop are geared towards GCSE 2016-18 (AQA and Edexcel) curriculum and are practical solutions to classroom teaching. I keep most of these black and white for simple/cost-effective print. I read each novel/play/poem and break down into manageable parts. I find this most effective within classrooms where students require chunks of information they can order, in sequence. The 'study-packs' I create can apply to any book/play/poem and provide visual tools for memory recall.

MACBETH - WHO IS AT THE TABLE? RELATIONSHIP DYNAMICS

(0)
Straightforward resource - works best if printed A3. Can easily be self-designed and not paid for. The completion of this resource in class developed student-thinking and they responded with some fantastic questions. One of the students sketched the 'Porter' character, drunk on the floor after an alcohol "session". Other students read into the dynamics of the relationships between the characters, e.g. Macbeth and Duncan were heads of the table due to gender inequality of the 1600's; Banquo was sat on the Supernatural table because of his death and return as a ghost.

LEARNER PROGRESSION MOUNTAIN

(3)
A tool first used in a training environment working with L2-L3 Teaching Assistants. The 'mountain&' concept is introduced with the whole class working as a team throughout the 12-week course where it is explained that the &';team' progress takes into account the slowest learner to ensure 'nobody is left on the ground'. As a visual-tool to promote development in class the Learner continually adds to each block of the mountain and gradually observes as their journey unfolds towards their peak.

HORROR/GOTHIC ADJECTIVES

(0)
Worksheet used with Year 7-8's in conjunction with 'Gothic Novel Create Your Own' resource, as a feed-in to them exploring The Castle of Otranto and Frankenstein. SUGGESTION: Circle three from the options and then add three 'unique' adjectives of your own. Then create a piece of horror-writing with your new words incorporated using the resource associated with this (available by the same author) or develop your own.

ADHD - KEITH'S STORY

ADHD - KEITH'S STORY

(1)
Keith is a 28-year-old student I worked with throughout a 12-week period. Early on in the Teaching Assistant course he described his knowledge of ‘child-development’ as a subject area, as this applied to a number of ‘transitions’ worked through in his own life and how ‘resilient’ and independent he had become as a result. His ‘story’ was result of him relaying his thoughts on ADHD and the prescribing of drugs to him at Age 7. This document was created with the intention that another child/parent/teacher may benefit from his words.

TIMELINE (LIFE-PATH)

(0)
A simple but effective Timeline tool for use with Learners to assist their visual focus towards what they want to achieve in their lives. The resource can be adapted to assist personal development and reflection; exploring issues from the past that effect the future; target-setting; forward-planning. I use this tool generally on A3-paper and some of the results with individual learners have been very insightful.
MACBETH - CRIME SCENE INVESTIGATION
EYEOFTHEFLYEYEOFTHEFLY

MACBETH - CRIME SCENE INVESTIGATION

(1)
A four page resource where students enter a Crime Scene Investigation and examine the facts leading up to the death of MacBeth. The suggestion is for the students to examine the events of the play in reverse, which may, or may not, lead to a consideration that MacBeth had proven his valour and deserved to inherit the throne (could tie this in with general knowledge that MacBeth, in real life, did rule). The body-outline sheet could be printed A3 so students can label. The resource final page (4 in total) asks the students to provide written response from both the play and their own feelings, relating the how they view MacBeth.

FRENCH - 2,000 MILE COMBINED SUBJECT STUDY TEXT

A journey through France becomes a study text (Reading)when the student reads the information of a real-life journey and then plots their own trip, using a budget (Numeracy) of £600. The text is accompanied by a question sheet with the students then planning the resources (Life-Skills) and items required to successfully complete their treck. Can be used as an inspiration tool for students to plan their own wild camping, within France or (Geography) in any country. Written by Tor Alexander Bruce.

OFSTED PLANNING TOOL - TEACHERS/TA'S/WHOLE CLASS

(0)
Resource used in training of Teaching Assistants/Teachers to prepare for Ofsted inspections. Created in line with two inspections via a local authority and was very well received by teachers in training and the Ofsted inspector. As a learning tool it assists with overall classroom awareness/knowledge of 'what the teacher prepares for' throughout the course of each working day and leading to an inspection. Resource was supported by the local authorities own paperwork and the student TA's graded their own lessons in accordance to these guidelines. Recommended to create combined awareness of the types of items each Ofsted inspection will cover. See Of(in)ste(a)d resource by same author for a complimentary tool to add to this resource.

HISTORY OF THE UNIVERSE TIMELINE
EYEOFTHEFLYEYEOFTHEFLY

HISTORY OF THE UNIVERSE TIMELINE

(0)
A Timeline constructed by Tor Alexander Bruce over several months from research via Books, Websites, Discussions, Library visits and DVD-viewing. The resource is a multi-page Excel-spread sheet, stemming from what we currently regard as the birth of the Universe, through each stage of the evolution of the picture we regard as the natural world, through to educated-views of where our human desire to exhaust all natural resources may lead us and the co-inhabitants of Earth. The document was originally compiled as a War-Chart, to highlight the varying stages of man's inhumanity to man, but the research led to documenting everything from archaeological discoveries resulting in greater knowledge of human development, to detailed information relating to prehistoric-earth; world leadership through the ages and facts relating to the resources that have allowed the human species to develop in the way they have.
