A simple IWB maths game, designed in Powerpoint to support teaching and learning of early number skills. Children say how many coins are presented in the ten-frame and add more. Children click the matching numeral on the number track. All amounts of coins from 1 to 10 are presented in the slides. This resource is easily adapted to show different arrangements of the coins, if you wish. This resource also includes ten-frame showing 1-10 coins in different arrangements. These are ideal to print off, laminate and can be used during independent learning activities to explore cardinality and adding one more. A simple interactive maths game, designed in Powerpoint to support the development of subitizing skills in EYFS. Ideal for sharing on the interactive whiteboard as part of whole class teaching and learning. Great as a mental warm up / starter activity. Children are presented with 1 to 5 hearts in a variety of different arrangements. Children are encouraged to subitize (instantly say the number of hearts without counting) and click on the matching number. Fifteen different arrangments are shared in the slides. At the end of the slides 12 smaller flash cards showing different arrangements for 5 are shown to explore different ways of arranging the hearts. This leads to an exploratory activity during independent learning where children can investigate all the different ways of arranging 5 chocolate hearts in a box with nine spaces.

A simple interactive maths game, designed in Powerpoint to support the development of children’s subitizing skills - the ability to instantly recognise number amounts from 1 to 5 (without counting). Children are presented with different arrangements of pancakes from 1 to 5. Children identify the number of pancakes shown and click the matching number card. This is an ideal activity to develop subitizing skills. An ideal activity for whole class teaching with the theme of pancakes. As a follow up activity children can make their own play-dough pancakes and arrange their pancakes in different ways using the play-dough boards. This also works well as a small group follow up activity - For example, by asking the children “Can you make me (x amount) of pancakes with the play-dough?” “Show me (x amount) of pancakes.” Ideal for assessing ELGs in a fun way.

This is a simple IWB number comparison game designed in Powerpoint. Children are presented with two 5-frames with varying amounts of counters on each slide. Children need to click on the 5-frame showing the most or fewest counters. The game is 20 slides in length. This game links well with Whiterose Maths planning activities for Autumn term for EYFS. It provides is a good introduction for children to begin to develop their subitising, composition and number comparison skills using a 5-frame. An added challenge is to explore how many more counters would be needed to be added or taken away to make the amounts shown in the 5-frames the same.
