Vocab sheet with some short translations and teaching ideas - enough for at least one lesson for teaching students to discuss the school rules in French.
A vocab-sorting task on vocab for types of TV shows, opinion phrases and justifications - display on the board, students read each phrase in pairs and decide which column it goes under.
A ‘sondage’ survey speaking task - display the corrected vocab in the columns on the board from the first activity, and the students complete the sondage with people going round the room, using the vocab on the board to help.
A vocab exercise with a table to practise the masculine and feminine forms of adjectives for describing personality / décrire la personnalité / le caractère. Adjective endings + listening gap-fill to draw students’ attention to masculine and feminine adjective agreements.
A variety of lesson activities for 1-3 lessons to learn to describe the environmental problems in the world and the local area - a parallel text with suggestions on how to use it, a vocab hunt, delayed dictation, unscramble the sentences exercise, broken sentences to match up, another parallel text followed by a gap-fill, scaffolded translations from English into French. All answers included.
A variety of lesson activities to learn to say what you do / what you can do to protect the environment / ecology - including matching activity to introduce the vocab, vocab hunt, listening gap-fill with follow-up activity and guided writing task (complete the sentences)
A reading comprehension with various exercises to consolidate the vocabulary on the topic. For KS4 topic of health / healthy lifestyles. Activities include find the vocab in the text, gap-fill, French questions, vocab-list and translation.
Reading comprehension on projets d’avenir / future studies / future work plans with true or false exercise, questions in French and extension translation work. Then a vocab worksheet of listening gap-fill, true or false and gapped translations. Answers included.
Sentence unjumbling task can be done orally as per instructions on slide 1, or printed and done in writing. Or pupils can write answers on mini whiteboards and do it live. Vocab is on topic of describing people. Can be done as a quiz or competition.
Basic practice of describing people in Spanish - unjumble the sentences and complete the gap-fill using the options. Answers included. Covers topics of describing age and nationality, hair, eyes, weight and some personality.
Quick reading comprehension task to consolidate vocab on describing family members. Also draws attention to adjectives and verbs. You could extend the activity by asking pupils to translate the boxes orally into English, or to rewrite each box changing TWO details in Spanish for each person.
Spanish to English translations short activity to consolidate vocab on describing people with ser. Answers included. This activity could be done as a competition/quiz in pairs or as a ‘one pen one dice’ activity (Google it! Great game) After you’ve corrected them, you could practise listening by asking pupils to turn the sheet over, then you read out one of the sentences from the sheet in Spanish, and on the back or on a miniwhiteboard, pupils translate it into English - good listening practice.
This listening comprehension tests a range of topics that would have already been taught by the time pupils complete this - it can be used as an end-of-topic assessment and covers age, birthday, languages, family members, pets and physical description. The teacher reads the transcript and pupils answer, or you can record the transcript onto an audio file and set it as homework.
Narrow reading worksheet to practise expressions for talking about the future, as well as vocab on hobbies and time phrases. This reading could be done once pupils are familiar with some hobbies vocab and time phrases, and are ready to be introduced to some future phrases. Suggestions for further activities included in document as well as answers.
Several activities which could last a few lessons / homeworks to introduce physical descriptions using ser, all teacher instructions and answers are included. Activities consolidate the vocab. You could also substitute the translation worksheets for aural translation - instead of pupils seeing the sheet, you read one of the sentences from the sheet in Spanish and they write the English, or you could use it to do dictation sentences.
Mini translations to complete as a race / quiz against partner. Can be used as Spanish to English or English to Spanish - simply select the Spanish or English column, change the colour to WHITE and then PRINT! You can change the colour back to black to show the answers.
Worksheets with activities and teacher notes for pupils to be introduced to indirect verbs in Spanish for giving opinions on hobbies, followed by some revision activities on free time verbs hacer and jugar and how they work with different sports.

Short grammar exercise + answers and extra teaching ideas! Worksheet to be done either projected onto the board on mini whiteboards, or printed off and completed. Pupils can practise using ser or estar correctly, and haber and tener correctly. It is within the context of the school topic.
A short sequence of teacher-led oral drilling activities to practise/revise the present tense of the big 4 irregulars in French. This activity should be after pupils have seen the tables of conjugations and are familiar with the English meanings. Possible sequence:
model the pronunciation of the sentences 1-5 on each slide, do some listen & repeat oral drills (choral repetition, individual repetition, whispering, shouting etc. to drill pronunciation)
pupils translate orally into english in pairs
pupils given 30 seconds / 1 minute to ‘memorise’ the verbs and their meanings on the sentences
memory task - recall the verbs
repeat for the other verbs
matching task to reinforce verb meanings - pupils do orally in pairs
gap-fill task - you could cold call pupils for this one. If it’s too hard, give them 2 options orally in French eg. ‘J’ai sept cours’ or ‘Je suis sept cours’ ?
