3 different levels of spelling practice for the year 2 SATS Grammar, Punctuation and Spelling paper 1 (spelling). These sheets can also be used for spelling practice in class. Spellings are based on the requirements of the National Curriculum and also on the 2016 SATS spelling paper and sample government materials. Ideal for use with a teacher or TA led group or for whole class revision. Also useful for parents or tutors supporting children at home.

Three original texts and reading comprehension questions that can be used to revise for the year 6 SATS, or can also be used for guided reading groups or general comprehension skills. Texts are an original fiction story, a non-fiction text on forests and a fictional persuasive letter. The story is part 4 and can be used in conjunction with parts 1-3, but will also designed to be usable on its own. Comprehension questions test a range of skills (retrieval, inference etc) and are based around the 2016 year 6 SATS questions and sample government materials.

These are original reading comprehensions aimed at years 5 and 6 and follow on from part 5 of my reading comprehension series. Questions are based on questions from the new style year 6 SATS papers. They are written by a specialist History teacher and examiner. Table of Contents 3 text types: 1. Chapter 6 of an original time-travel story set in the time of Robin Hood. 2. A non-fiction text about horses 3. A short story about honesty that could be used in a PSHE or RE focus. These sheets can be used a test, for guided reading or a stimulus for a history or PSHE lesson.

Six weeks of spelling teaching on prefixes that can be added to verbs, as required by the National Curriculum. There are activities designed to be done one a day over a school week and also word searches. Spelling words are provided to be used for homework and/or spelling tests. Week 6 is a review week and includes spellings from the statutory word list for year 5 and 6.

Spelling sheets for revision for the year 6 SATS spelling sheets. Bronze (Below expected) and Silver (At expected) are sentences and multiple choice options to choose the correct spelling. Gold (Exceeding expected) requires pupils to identify and correct misspelt words. All words are based on the 2016 SATS Spelling paper and government sample materials and on the spelling word lists from English appendix 1 of the Key Stage 2 National Curriculum for English.

The story is part 5 and can be used in conjunction with parts 1-4, but is also designed so it can be used on its own as well. Questions are based on the 2016 SATS reading paper and government sample materials. The recipe task is more straightforward than the others and may be useful for pupils working below the expected standard. (Please note that the story does touch briefly and sensitively on the topic of divorce and family breakdown.)

This is the first three week’s of a year 2 English scheme of work, designed to work through the second half of the autumn term. The scheme includes an 80-slide Powerpoint, which can be used in conjunction with the 31-page workbook. The workbook can either be printed out and used in its entirety, or selected sheets can be used as an ink-saver. An answer book is included. Contents of the workbook are: Spellings: The ‘-dge’ word ending, the '-ge- word ending, words which used a ‘c’ for an ‘s’. Punctuation: Capital letters for proper nouns, question marks, exclamation marks. Grammar: The past and present tenses, nouns and adjectives, expanded noun phrases. Reading: Comprehensions on The Gunpowder Plot (Non-fiction recount of the story), Remembrance Day (A poem), Anti-Bulling Week (A story focused around bullying.) Writing: Writing a letter, describing a war memorial, writing a list of advice for someone who is being bullied. All reading comprehension questions are based on the format of the Key Stage 1 SATS tests, both paper 1 and paper 2. The work is divided into three weeks of learning, with an aspect of each element of English each week. The writing activities are linked with the subject of the reading comprehensions. This is a continuation from week 1 of this scheme, which is available for free download from my TES shop (although week 1 is also included in this download.) Weeks 4-6 will be available shortly.
