2022 A Christmas Carol model answer on loneliness, isolation and its effects - this model essay or answer is designed to hit the requirements for Grade 9 for AQA English Literature Paper 1/1N. Includes an answer that weaves together language and structure analysis, context and detailed and perceptive insights into Victorian society, how Scrooge is both isolated and lonely throughout the novel, and how his awareness of his detachment is used to influence Scrooge and in turn used by Dickens to communicate messages on social transformation.
Our Day Out by Willy Russell lesson. Covers character, plot, types of character (protagonists, antagonists, confidantes, stock characters, comic relief) and students learn about why the writer introduces the major characters as he does at the start of the play.

Traitors English lesson on A Christmas Carol inspired by the BBC TV series. This is a fully resourced lesson so it includes differentiated activities on Dickens’ novel that cover characters, plot, themes, form and structure.
The pack includes a PowerPoint with fully editable slides, traitor cards, faithful cards and detailed teacher notes setting out how the game works.
Students work together in groups to complete Literature activity worksheets (included this pack and with detailed suggested answers for students to review and improve their revision), and earn points for the successful completion of their sheets. Romeo and Juliet lesson on Paris. A fully differentiated lesson that analyses Act 3 Scene 4 and Act 3 Scene 5 in William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. We look at how Paris is reintroduced to the audience, how Romeo and Juliet say good bye to each other, how Juliet reacts to her parents’ decision to marry her off to Paris and their reaction to how she behaves after hearing this news. Designed for AQA English Literature Paper 1 but easily adaptable for other exam boards and for KS3 students, this lesson is definitely worth a download!
